We live in a busy world, a world that will devour every moment of our time if we let it.
In the mist of this busy, chaotic world, I have often struggled with finding time to read my bible. In my heart, I know how important reading my bible is to my faith, my growth as a Christian, and in developing a close relationship with God. However, I often let the distractions of my life get in the way of what God has commanded me to do.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
Over the years, I have used these tips to help me overcome this struggle. These tips have helped me consistently read my bible every day.
Schedule time every day to read and study the bible. Think of this time as your daily appointment with God. For myself, I schedule time every morning before my family gets up to spend time reading my bible and praying. Beginning your day reading the bible can help you start your day focused on God. It also helps prepare you to be able to take on whatever the day may bring.

Use a Bible App
A bible app can guide you on which verses to read in your bible every day. I personally use the YouVersion Bible app. Currently, I am going through one of the Read Your Bible in a Year plans that is offered through this app along with my daily devotion. However, this bible app offers other great reading plans and devotions that you might be interested in. If not, there are many other free bible apps available that may fit your needs.
Have you heard about Amazon’s Audible? Well, I am sure that you already have, but I am often the last one to try out new things. Anyway, I have to say that I love Amazon’s Audible. I can now listen to the bible in my car during my commute to work or trips to town. You can also listen to the bible while you are working out, cleaning your house, cooking dinner, or grocery shopping.
Read During Family Time
Family time is a great time to read the bible. Spending some time every night reading the bible with your family is a great way to study God’s word and encourage spiritual growth. You can read the bible together after dinner each night or before bed, whatever works best with your family.
My son and I will often read bible verses or his favorite bible stories before bed each night. After reading, we talk about what God is teaching us through the verse or bible story. I also remind my son how much God loves us and how the bible teaches us how God want us to live our daily lives.
These tips can help you find time in your day to read God’s word. Reading the bible is necessary for spiritual growth and in understanding God’s plans for us. God longs for a personal relationship with us, and He uses the bible to teach us how to walk with Him and reveals to us His will for our lives.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
