Getting rid of cable is an easy way to cut your monthly spending. When my family and I had cable, we were spending over $100 per month on cable alone, and we didn’t even have any premium channels.
There are many other less expensive options available now for entertainment. Here are just a few; Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube. Also if you are an Amazon Prime member, there are many free movies and series to choose from. If you really want those premium channels, many of these options also include these add-ons for a small monthly price.
Do you still have a landline phone? Do you really need it? My family and I got rid of our landline phone over a year ago. To be honest, I was really hesitant to do this. However, I am so glad that we did. We are saving around $50 a month without our landline phone.
Honestly, most people probably call you on your cellphone anyway so you don’t really need your landline phone. Save some extra money each month by ditching your landline phone.
Insurance can be one area that can be overlooked when saving money. I recommend that you take a closer look at your car insurance and health insurance. Are you paying for more than you actually use?
One way to save money every month on your car insurance is to increase your deductible. For instance, if I get into an accident that is my fault, my deductible for repairs is $1000. Changing my deductible from $500 to $1000 saves me money every month on my car insurance. However, I do recommend that you have at least $1000 in savings just in case you have a fender bender.
Another way to save money each month is with your health insurance. Usually you can’t change your health insurance plan every month. However, when the time comes to renew your health insurance plan, you may want to change to a less expensive plan. You may be paying for more than you’re actually using. There’s no harm in taking a look at what you’re paying versus what you really need.
Buying groceries each month can be a huge expense for some families. However, this is an area where families can save so much money also.
Some ways to save on groceries each month include using coupons, buying items on sale, buying fruits and vegetables that are in season, and using money saving apps like Ibotta. Ibotta is a cash-back app that allows you to earn money on items that you purchase every day, no coupons needed.
I love Ibotta and use it every month to earn money. Plus if you use this link, you will earn $10 today for just signing up! Try Ibotta today! What do you have to lose?
Do you want to save even more money this month on groceries?
Entertainment is another area where money can be saved each month. Instead of going out to dinner or going to the movies this month, try cooking a nice dinner at home and renting a movie from Redbox or Amazon Prime. Spending time at home can be a great way to spend quality time together as a family.

Another way to save money each month is on utilities. In the winter, turn down the thermostat a few degrees. At night, turn down the thermostat even more. In the summer, turn up the thermostat a few degrees. Also make sure that lights are turned off in rooms that are unoccupied. If you have kids, this can be a challenge. However, I encourage you to keep reminding them so that eventually this will become a habit 🙂
You can also unplug appliances or electronics that are not being used. Also you can change all the lightbulbs in your house to energy efficient bulbs that will save you money each month, such as these here:
Rather than buying clothes this month, try a no spending month. However, if you or your kids really need some clothes this month, try a consignment shop or ThredUp.
You also might try shopping in your own closet. Try using the clothes you already have to put together new outfits. Be creative!
Making your own cleaning supplies can be a great way to save money each month. It also is a great way to keep harsh chemicals out of your home. Check out PALEOHACKS for 9 Natural DIY Cleaning Products that Every Home Needs.
Most natural cleaning products include either white vinegar, water, lemon juice, baking soda, or essential oils. These cleaning products are easy to make and can definitely save you money over time.
If you truly want to save money every month, you have to create a budget. You need to know exactly where you money is going every month. You might even find some other areas where you can save more money each month.
